Editing Existing Engines

Engine owners can update their engine to fine tune the end experience over time.

Engines need to be edited to update:

  • Category Tabs

  • Result Matching and Ranking

  • Crawler Frequency

  • Crawler Assistance: Page Load Delay

These actions can be done using the portal or search API. Through the portal, users can find the path to edit an existing engine on their portal account dashboard. Clicking on the three dots icon opens a list of options, including 'edit'.

Edits can only be made to existing engines (created and not deleted). Edits to the engine configurations can be executed an unlimited amount of times.

Some edits affect the engine's index and require a short amount of time to take affect. That period depends on the size and activity of the engine index.
